Burnout....

I've been thinking a lot about burnout lately. Where does it come from? What are the causes? Is it avoidable? Are there any cures? Hopefully I will write more about it in the weeks to come. Here's a promise to start your thoughts....

Isaiah 61:3 ESV to grant to those who mourn in Zion-- to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.
Do you have any opening thoughts?

I think the ebbs and flows of life are inevitable. The tougher part, and the part where I usually fall off the wagon, is keeping our faith in God and our eyes directed toward him. I wish I were more disciplined in these matters but like Peter tend to watch the waves looking for an escape or help. Faith is the essence of the verse to me that makes the mourning into joy and hope.

Great thoughts. That's why I love the Bible...real book with real people.
