Favorite Wimber Quote

Here's a favorite John Wimber quote of mine. Anytime I feel like a nut-job I'm reminded that I'm not alone in this faith walk. I hope this encourages you like it has me for over 10 years.

“The economy of the Kingdom of God is quite simple. Every new step in the Kingdom costs us everything we have gained to date. Every time we cross a new threshold, it costs us everything we now have. Every new step may cost us all the reputation and security we have accumulated up to that point. It costs us our life. A disciple is always ready to take the next step. If there is anything that characterizes Christian maturity, it is the willingness to become a beginner again for Jesus Christ. It is the willingness to put our hand in His and say, ‘I’m scared to death, but I’ll go with you. You’re the Pearl of great price.” John Wimber

What does this speak to you? What is your favorite quote from a church leader (not in the Bible)?

I can't say that I have a favorite quote from a church leader but I'll post a good quote from a playwright just for the sake of quasi-non-conformity.

It is from George Bernard Shaw.

"This is the true joy of life, the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clot of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."

I think there is so much truth in it.
