I’ll Be There for You

Week One - Day Four

Words matter. One of the things that I try and share with all of my disciples is this principle:
"Words are like boxcars that carry ideas."
I am continually working to not be sloppy with my language or use words that really don't convey the thoughts that I am trying to communicate. At the end of the day, communication is simply shared meaning.

Today, Barry is trying to communicate to us that friendship is a precious gift.  The Bible is clear that friends really matter and that we are called to love our friends.  Jesus went on to say this:
John 15:13 NLT  There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Jesus is not inviting us to die for our friends.  He is inviting us to live for Him with them in mind. It is a sacrificial love gift to invest time praying for someone.  It is real love.

Here's the takeaway today: "You can give without loving but you can not love without giving".

Spend another few moments praying for your friends. Pray for those who know Christ and those who haven't yet surrendered to His love.
