Under the Microscope

Week Two - Day Three

If accountability is for my good, why does it feel so bad?  Perhaps it is because so many of us do it wrong? What is accountability?  Is it someone tracking all of my mistakes?  Is it someone always peering over my shoulder? No. A million times over, NO.

Accountability is someone who helps you take a count of your abilities. Your mentor and your other accountability partners should love you, know you and help you be the best you by the grace of God. Who wouldn't want someone to know them, love them, and help them be the best possible version of themselves? That's them - what's your part?  To be as open and transparent as possible.  Make it easy for your accountability partners to help you succeed.  They should not have to solve a riddle to help you.

Takeaway: You are only as accountable as you want to be.

Run to help and not away from it. Our old friend James knew that.  He wrote this a couple of thousand years ago:

James 5:16 NLT  Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Real accountability destroys secret and shame and frees you to grow into the real version of you.  The one that God intended.  He loves you just like you are and He is empowering you to grow!
