Week Three - Day Two
How do you overcome fear? First, recognize that it is a spirit. Paul said, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT )Once you recognize that you are not fighting a human battle but a spiritual battle, you can use the weapons God has provided for you to win.
"We are human, but we don't wage war as humans do. We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ."
David defeated the giant because he trusted God not his own human abilities. He came at the giant "in the Name of the Lord."(1Samuel 17:45) By God's grace, you can overcome fear. Courage is not the absence of fear, courage is doing the right thing in the face of fear. That is ONLY possible by the grace of God.
Takeaway: Do it afraid!
Your breakthrough and your blessing are on the other side of the difficulty that seems too large to overcome. You just need the courage of a boy.
